Since Earth Day was going to be the Hummer’s last ride, and because so many of the regular crew members had to work, Stephen decided to take the Green Hummer downtown for a little advertising. It was oiled, the tires were inflated, the spanish moss was knocked off, and the Green Hummer rolled to Bull Street.

Stephen stapled some paper to both sides of the Hummer and found a parking spot close to CVS on Wright Square. He made up posters for the next days’ ride right there on the street, stopping to talk to people as they came up.

There was a two hour limit on the Hummer’s spot, so Stephen walked to lunch and back, then cruised in the Hummer to the next available parking space, in front of Sixpence pub at Bull and Liberty Streets. The Hummer spent the night there with the rear wheel locked to itself. The next morning, the Hummer would ride from Sixpence to Headquarters, and on to the Southside!
